For independent proofreading (sometimes called comparative proofreading or revision), you should always use the services of a native speaker of the target language for the sake of style suitability and to catch subtle differences in meaning. Independent proofreading is performed by a person other than the translator – a native speaker, a specialist in the field.
During independent proofreading, I will compare the target text with the source and then correct the target text based on the source text. Semantically, stylistically, according to your requirements and always bearing the purpose of the translation in mind.
I perform independent proofreading of foreign texts in the combination of English - Czech, German - Czech and Slovak - Czech in a classic text editor, but I can also handle the revision of tables, presentations or PDF files.
